Data bundle or airtime for Haiti? Here is how we decide

People say “send credit to Haiti” the way they say “pick up rice.” It is one sentence covering two different products.

Airtime is minutes and the classic prepaid balance. A data bundle is internet for a period of time. WhatsApp, a video call with the kids, a voice note that is really a conversation — that is data. A call to a number that is not on WhatsApp — that is airtime.

Questions we ask before we send

• Did the phone stop ringing, or did WhatsApp stop loading?

Why bundles feel like they “last”

Do not stack blindly

Two overlapping bundles can be waste. Two tiny airtime sends because you felt guilty can also be waste. Pick one product, send it, tell them, wait for “it arrived.” Then stop hovering.
